Sophie McNamee

Public Relations and International Relations student at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

About Sophie

Sophie is a student at Syracuse University, pursuing a dual degree at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in public relations and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in international relations. Raised in Sydney, Australia, she brings a global perspective that informs both her academic work and professional ambitions.

She has gained experience in communications, corporate event management, and client relations through roles such as her work with Chubb Insurance during the Australian Open and her current position as a Communications Intern with the National Peace Corps Association. In these roles, she has contributed to communications campaigns, conducted research, and created written content for digital platforms, strengthening her ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and represent organizations effectively.

At Syracuse, Sophie is focused on exploring the intersection of international relations and public relations, with a particular interest in how strategic communication shapes global policy and public perception. She is passionate about human rights and the role of international institutions, viewing these as central to the career she is working toward. Her long-term goal is to work in government public relations, representing leaders and institutions while shaping how they engage with the public on both domestic and international stages
